Asadar, oamenii de stiinta cred ca au gasit o explicatie la obiceiul femeilor de a avea mai multi parteneri sexuali, desi, teorectic, nu au nevoie decat de unul pentru a se reproduce.
Chiar si in populatiile care practica endogamia (n.r. obicei practicat de unele triburi de a permite casatoria numai intre membrii aceluiasi trib), femeile dezvolta un comportament promiscuu, pentru a testa si sperma altor parteneri.
Academicienii de la Universitatea din Estul Angliei au studiat comportamentul a patru gandaci si au decoperit ca rata femelelor cu un singur partener care reusesc sa procreeze este identica cu cea a femelelor cu mai multi parteneri care se reproduc.
Insa, atunci cand au efectuat aceleasi teste pe o populatie endogama, au descoperit ca 50% dintre urmasii femelelor cu un singur partener nu supravietuiesc.
Poliandrie (n.r. forma istorica de organizare a familiei (intalnita astazi numai la unele triburi primitive) in care o femeie poate sa se casatoreasca in acelasi timp cu mai multi barbati) - practica in care ovulele femelei sunt fertilizate de mai multi "tati" - este o norma intalnita la majoritatea speciilor de animale de pe pamant, de la cimpanzei la pui.
Cu alte cuvinte, potrivit oamenilor de stiinta, femelele poseda mecanisme care le permit sa filtreze si sa aleaga cea mai compatibila sperma din punct de vedere genetic pentru a produce feti care sa supravietuiasca.
Iar asta ar putea fi o explicatie si la de ce mai calca uneori femeile stramb!
